Report claims how much Tottenham will have to spend on transfers this summer

Based on the information they are getting from their sources, ESPN are reporting that Jose Mourinho might get a sizeable budget to strengthen his squad this summer.

Tottenham have taken a bigger financial hit than most other clubs due to the pandemic (Football Insider), with the Lilywhites acquiring a £175million loan from the Bank of England in order to cover for their estimated losses (BBC Sport).

Previous reports have suggested that Spurs are unlikely to have much money to spend this summer and are likely to look for bargain transfers or swap deals (Mirror).

However, Mourinho has confidently asserted that the club will do what is needed in the summer to strengthen the squad (Football.London).

ESPN have claimed that the Spurs head coach will be handed a transfer kitty of £50-60million this summer to improve his squad.

It is claimed that the 57-year-old wants the club to bring in a midfielder, a right-back, another centre-back and a backup striker ahead of the next campaign.

Spurs Web Opinion

Signing four decent players for around £60million (potentially £80-£90m with player sales) will be difficult but certainly not impossible. Given that the likes of Hojbjerg and Milik are coming to end of their contracts with their clubs, there are some relatively affordable options out there who could be decent additions to our squad.
