Report claims impact of coronavirus has increased Spurs’ hopes of star man staying

Tottenham Hotspur have relied heavily on Harry Kane’s goals in recent seasons to help transform the club into Champions League regulars.

The Spurs marksman has netted 136 goals in 201 Premier League appearances for the North London side.

With the club being in serious risk of missing out on a fifth successive top four finish and another appearance in European football’s most prestigious club competition, it would be a significant blow to the likes of Kane who relish playing at the highest level.

Kane has previously admitted that he is happy to remain at Tottenham as long as the club match his ambition to win trophies and keep improving (ESPN).

While the club made great strides under Mauricio Pochettino, they have gone backwards over the past year and currently find themselves in eigth place in the Premier League table and already eliminated from all of this season’s cup competitions.

The Daily Star claim that Tottenham have grown ever confident that Real Madrid or Manchester United will not look to test Daniel Levy’s resolve this summer with a £250m offer and he will stay put for another campaign.

It is reported that the Champions League finalists were potentially facing bids from some of European football’s giants this summer until the coronavirus pandemic hit.

The spread of COVID-19 has caused massive a financial impact to businesses across the world with football club’s also feeling the hit. As a result, it is said that many clubs will resist the urge to outlay such a huge amount on a player.
