Report claims Levy relationship with agent could lead to new Spurs manager

According to multiple sources from Belgium, Daniel Levy’s good relationship with super-agent Pini Zahavi could lead to Roberto Martinez being offered the Tottenham job.

Martinez is one of the names rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar as the club continue their search for a suitable replacement for Jose Mourinho.

The Sun have claimed that the Belgium boss is keen on a return to the Premier League after the European Championship in the summer and has admirers at Spurs.

It was reported back in Belgium two weeks ago that Zahavi has been tasked with finding Martinez a new club and the fact the agent was close to Daniel Levy made it likely that the former Everton man would be considered for the Tottenham job.

Sport/Foot Magazine (as relayed by Sport Witness) now explain that, while Zahavi was one of the reasons Levy had to pay Jose Mourinho €23m (£20m) to sack him, the Spurs chairman ‘isn’t resentful’ about it and ‘doesn’t hold it against’ the Israeli agent.

The report explains that Zahavi was responsible for bringing both Jose Mourinho and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Tottenham and with him now handling Martinez’s affairs, the Spaniard could be on his way to London.

Spurs Web Opinion

These reports seem to be speculating simply based on Levy’s relationship with Zahavi rather than having anything concrete to support the idea that Martinez is one of the leading candidates on Tottenham’s shortlist.

I personally think that the club are more likely to go for a relatively young, up and coming coach like Potter or Parker over someone like Martinez, who has been out of club management for three years.
