Report claims Mourinho accepts he ‘may not have any money’ to spend this summer

The Sun have now reported that Spurs boss, Jose Mourinho, has accepted that he may have no money to spend at all this summer transfer window.

The Special One has already made a mark on the squad he inherited from Mauricio Pochettino by signing Steven Bergwijn from PSV and Gedson Fernandes on loan from Benfica.

However, Mourinho may not be treated to much of a transfer budget for his first summer window in North London, largely thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Sun claim that Daniel Levy made it clear to Mourinho back in November 2019 that there would be a limited transfer budget to work with.

However, with the lockdown and Premier League suspension, clubs have been hit hard without matchday and television revenue. As such, the Spurs boss may little to no money to work with at the end of the season.

Spurs fans will only have to look back to the 2018 summer window when Mauricio Pochettino and Levy chose to sign no new players, although they did go on to reach the Champions League Final that season.
