Report claims Mourinho wants to sign Lo Celso to then use him in a swap deal

Giovani Lo Celso’s Tottenham career is finally getting started, as he is earning regular game time under new head coach Jose Mourinho.

The Argentine has now played a part in five consecutive Premier League matches, including starts against Norwich, Southampton, Watford, and in the FA Cup against Middlesbrough.

Lo Celso also managed to score in the latter, bringing his tally to two for Spurs (Transfer Markt).

It has been well documented that Spurs have the chance to sign Lo Celso for a cheaper price this month compared to what they would have to pay in the summer (ABC Sevilla).

However, one report out of Spain has now made the strange claim that Jose Mourinho plans to sign the creative star permanently only to later swap him away.

Diario Gol says that Mourinho wants to use Lo Celso’s relationship with Barcelona figure Quique Setien to swap the Argentine for Nelson Semedo.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Absolutely no chance. This move would make no sense at all. Not only do the players feature in different positions, but Lo Celso is worth a huge amount more in my mind and is starting to look like a worthy Eriksen replacement.
