Report claims new favourite has overtaken Man City in race for Harry Kane

Manchester United have emerged as new favourites to sign Tottenham striker Harry Kane with Manchester City reportedly dropping out of the running, according to Bild.

The Red Devils have struggled to produce offensively this season despite having Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani leading the front line.

With the latter possibly a departure from Old Trafford upon the expiry of his contract (Ole), Ralf Rangnick’s side could have a vacancy to fill at the end of term.

Bild reports United may look to address that issue and have now moved to the front of the queue for Spurs talisman Kane, 28, with City altering targets for this coming summer.

Pep Guardiola’s side now shifted focus to Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland and will look to fend off the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain to his signature.

City targeted England captain Kane extensively throughout the summer transfer window and failed with a bid worth as much as £125 million, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

Kane will no doubt have suitors again in the summer but Spurs will continue to drive a hard bargain with the contract siding them. If United manage to acquire Mauricio Pochettino as their manager, then maybe Kane might entertain the move, but that is not guaranteed.
