Report claims one defender may ‘be the victim’ of Tottenham’s poor season

Fichajes have reported that Clement Lenglet may ‘be the victim’ of Tottenham’s poor 2022/23 season when he returns from loan to Barcelona in the summer.

Lenglet has been regularly deployed by Antonio Conte throughout the season, playing both on the left side of a back three and in the centre of defence.

However, Spurs have flattered to deceive so far this season, having been knocked out of both cups and the Champions League before the middle of March.

Once again, the Lilywhites are facing a season without a trophy, and Fichajes believe that Tottenham’s poor form could impact Lenglet’s future.

It is said that Barcelona want to sell Lenglet permanently in the summer, and it remains to be seen whether Spurs place a bid as they do not have a purchase option in the current loan deal.

Spurs Web Opinion:

It seems that Fichajes are arguing that Lenglet will have fewer suitors in the summer because Tottenham have looked poor at the back this season.

There may be some truth to that as I have been pretty disappointed with Lenglet on and off the ball throughout his loan so far.
