Report claims ‘Pochettino to get Alena’ as potential Eriksen replacement

Tottenham Hotspur and Real Betis are reportedly looking at Barcelona youngster, Carles Alena, with Ernesto Valverde handing the 21-year-old just one appearance so far this season (TransferMarkt).

Alena has not appeared for the Spanish giants since the opening day of the season, a situation which has apparently caught the eye of Spurs.

In fact, Mundo Deportivo have reported the story with the headline ‘Pochettino to get Alena’, as the club may see him as a potential Eriksen replacement.

Christian Eriksen has well under a year remaining on his current contract in North London, meaning he is set to leave on a free in the summer of 2020.

Spurs were also said to be the most interested in Alena back in the summer transfer window, but Barcelona decided to keep him in case Ivan Rakitic was sold.

Pochettino is said to be a big fan of the player and Spurs will continue to monitor the situation before a potential January move.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Tottenham should be identifying players they like from Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG, and Juventus, before seeing if they can strike up a deal involving a cut-price Eriksen.
