Report claims Real Madrid have major fear about Gareth Bale at Tottenham

According to a report in Spanish publication Okdiario, Real Madrid fear that Tottenham Hotspur will not look to complete a permanent deal for Gareth Bale in the summer and the Welshman will thus return to the Spanish capital.

When Bale completed a sensational return to Tottenham in the summer, Spurs fans would have expected him to have a big impact on the pitch once he got his fitness and sharpness back.

That has not quite materialised as of yet, with the 31-year-old starting only one Premier League game so far this campaign.

Eurosport claimed recently that Tottenham still want to keep the winger at the club beyond the end of the season and that Jose Mourinho is happy with the impact he has had on the squad’s morale.

The report suggested that Daniel Levy could look to extend his loan deal at Spurs by another year.

However, Okdiario report that Los Blancos are worried that Bale might come back to Madrid at the end of the season and see out the final year of his contract at the club.

Additionally, it is claimed that the La Liga giants fear that they would find it even more difficult to move the wide man on next summer if he fails to make an impact at Spurs and that they would be forced to look for buyers in Qatar, the United States or China.

While Bale might be a positive influence in the dressing room, I do not see Tottenham being willing to extend his loan deal unless he improves his performance in the second half of the season. Even though we are covering less than half of his wages, he will be too expensive to have around the club unless he can produce on the pitch.
