Report claims Spurs are ‘concerned’ about fitness of midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur are concerned about the injury which Oliver Skipp has sustained, according to the Daily Mail.

The midfielder has not featured for Antonio Conte’s side since suffering a groin injury and has missed the club’s last three matches in all competitions (transfermarkt).

Tottenham have missed the energetic displays of the 21-year-old in the middle of the park and have not conceded a single goal in the Premier League while Skipp, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Eric Dier have all started, while concerningly they have shipped thirteen goals in seven games when they don’t (BBC Match of the Day).

The report claims that the club are not optimistic of Skipp being fit in time for Saturday’s trip to Manchester City and are instead keeping an open mind on when he could return to action.

His return to the side is said to be the subject of uncertainty behind closed doors at the club in what comes as a blow to the Italian.

Conte revealed earlier this month (Feb 8th) that he was pushing the medical team to get the England Under-21 international back as soon as possible and had hoped to have had him available for selection in a maximum of ten days (The Athletic).

SpursWeb Opinion

Skipp has impressed this season and with the greatest respect to the player, it says a lot about the current state of our midfield when we are desperate to get a 21-year-old back fit with Harry Winks and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg having disappointed in recent outings.
