Report claims Spurs are currently ‘above all’ in the race for Inter Milan star

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Tottenham Hotspur are the front-runners to sign Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries this summer.

Dumfries has been a huge success since his move to the San Siro last summer, having scored five goals and provided seven assists so far this season (Transfermarkt).

Tottenham are reportedly in the market for a right wing-back this summer (The Sun) and the Inter star is rumoured to be one of the names on the North London club’s shortlist (Tuttosport – 21/04/22 via Sport Witness).

Journalist Ekrem Konur claimed last week that Spurs could launch an opening offer for the 26-year-old, who is valued by Inter at around €40m (£33.7m).

According to Gazzetta’s latest update, Tottenham are ‘above all’ Premier League clubs in the race for Dumfries’ signature this summer.

The report explains that Spurs’ main challengers for the Netherlands international could be Bayern Munich, with the Bundesliga giants said to be impressed by the Inter star’s athleticism and technique.

However, Gazzetta state that Bayern also have their eyes on another right-back option in Ajax’s Noussair Mazraoui.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am not sure Dumfries would be too keen on leaving the San Siro after just one season at the club. However, Inter would probably consider a decent offer, given their financial situation. They would have to raise funds for their transfer targets and the Dutchman appears to be one of their most sellable assets.
