Report claims Spurs are still interested in Premier League defender

Tottenham Hotspur are still reportedly keen on Tosin Adarabioyo, despite the Fulham defender having only just returning from a groin injury.

It is well documented that Spurs are looking to sign a new centre-back in the January transfer window. The need for reinforcements at the back carries over from the summer, but has been exacerbated by the hamstring injury suffered by Micky van de Ven during the defeat to Chelsea.

Ange Postecoglou has seen his side ravaged by injuries and suspension of late, with van de Ven ruled out until the New Year and Cristian Romero having just served a three-match suspension. With these absences, the Spurs defence has struggled significantly and the lack of squad depth has well and truly been exposed.

Before signing van de Ven in the summer, Spurs were heavily linked with a move for Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo. A report last month from Football Insider suggested that the Lilywhites still held an interest in the 26-year-old.

Spurs still want Tosin Adarabioyo

Now, the latest from Football.London corroborates this, with the suggestion that Spurs are keen to look at Adarabioyo in January, but, there’s a chance they may have to wait until the summer to get their man.

It is said that when it comes to Adarabioyo, Spurs “have continued to show interest ahead of January.” However, with just six months left on his current contract, the report claims “a summer free move somewhere appears more likely.”

Whether Spurs will wait, or try to tempt Fulham into cashing in on the player in the winter window remains to be seen.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tosin Adarabioyo is a good player, but I’m a little wary of his injury and whether we would be getting a player we can rely on. You never know if these injury issues can reoccur further down the line, and it’s still to be seen whether Adarabioyo can reach the performance levels he did before the injury.
