Report claims Spurs are to be without midfielder for the rest of January

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to be without the services of Giovani Lo Celso for the whole of January, according to the Evening Standard.

The Argentine suffered a hamstring injury which forced him off during the 2-0 defeat to Leicester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before Christmas and has not featured since.

The 24-year-old has only started four Premier League matches this season with seven appearances coming off the bench (transfermarkt).

Injuries have hampered his progress previously after suffering a hip problem last season while he had missed three fixtures during the current campaign due to respective muscular issues prior to his hamstring strain (transfermarkt).

Lo Celso was in the headlines for the wrong reasons last week when he was one of three first-team players which included Erik Lamela and Sergio Reguilon who were pictured breaking coronavirus guidelines by gathering with their families for a Christmas party which led to Tottenham condemning the actions of the trio (The Guardian).

Tier 4 rules, which apply to London, Government regulations state ‘you must not meet socially indoors with family or friends unless they are part of your household or support bubble.’
