Report claims Spurs are tracking this Champions League club manager

According to a report from The Athletic, RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann has admirers at Tottenham Hotspur as pressure continues to mount on Jose Mourinho amidst Spurs’ recent struggles.

Despite being just 33 years of age, Nagelsmann has built a great reputation owing to his outstanding work with Hoffenheim and Leipzig.

The German coach saved Hoffenheim from relegation before taking them into Europe and has done a fantastic job since arriving at Leipzig, taking the east German side to the semi-finals of the Champions League last season, beating Spurs along the way.

The Athletic reveal that Nagelsmann previously rejected an approach from Real Madrid when he was at Hoffenheim as he felt the risk of taking such a big job so soon in his coaching career would be too high.

It is revealed that Nagelsmann wants to plan out his career and some in Germany believe that he is close to reaching a ceiling already in Leipzig and expect him to move on from the club before his contract runs out in two and a half years.

Tottenham are said to be tracking the Leipzig boss’ progress while Chelsea reportedly made calls to enquire about his availability for next summer before appointing Thomas Tuchel.

Spurs Web Opinion

Nagelsmann would be a real coup for us if we are able to get him and I believe he is the one Spurs need to go for if and when the club parts way with Mourinho. However, calls for Mourinho’s head are premature at the moment and I believe that Levy will give the Portuguese coach time to turn things around.
