Report claims Spurs-linked defender could cost £20m less than previously reported

Marc Cucurella could be available for around £25 million with Tottenham thought to be interested in the Brighton defender, according to El Desmarque.

Cucurella, 23, has impressed during his first season with the Seagulls after sealing a switch from Getafe last summer.

The former Barcelona man scooped up Brighton’s Player of the year award as a result of his commanding displays (The Argus), although Graham Potter’s side could now be braced to receive plenty of transfer interest.

The Sun recently reported that Tottenham have become embroiled in a three-way battle alongside Manchester City and Chelsea to prise Cucurella away from Brighton, who allegedly valued the wide man at £45 million.

However, El Desmarque now reports that the valuation is much lower, noting he could be acquired at a price starting from as little as £25 million instead.

Spurs have scouted the left wing-back market so far this summer, with Sergio Reguilon tipped to be heading towards the exit at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (Football Insider).

The club recently acquired Croatia international Ivan Perisic on a free transfer from Inter Milan, who is likely set to fight for the left-wing-back position next to Ryan Sessegnon.

Spurs Web Opinion

Cucurella was one of Brighton’s key players this season and was a big reason why they recorded their best finish yet in the Premier League.

But a £25 million valuation seems a little too cheap for a player of his quality and with room to grow, especially given the fact he has only been at Brighton for a year.
