Report claims Spurs will feel they are favourites for this playmaker in January

Tottenham Hotspur are extremely fortunate that Christian Eriksen remained a Spurs player past the September 2 European transfer window deadline, as they were not able to bring in a like-for-like replacement.

Giovani Lo Celso was signed on loan, but he often plays a little deeper than Eriksen, who is known as one of the Prem’s best attacking midfielders.

However, Spurs may have the chance to find a long-term successor to the Great Dane in January, as the Sun claims the Lilywhites will feel as if they are favourites for one star in particular.

Tottenham reportedly bid around £60m for Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes back in the summer transfer window, with the Portuguese club rejecting the offer (Daily Mail).

In fact, the player himself recently claimed that he agreed a deal with Spurs but Sporting blocked the potential transfer (GQ).

The Sun say that with Man United ducking out of a January move for the attacker, Spurs could now be in with a good chance of securing his signature.
