Report claims Spurs will offer a four-year ‘project’ to attacking midfielder

While Tottenham Hotspur are largely focused on recruiting for the here and now in January, it seems the club are not slowing down when it comes to building for the future either with Ajax Under-21 starlet Stanis Idumbo Muzambo being linked with the Lilywhites.

The key priority for next month for Spurs is to acquire a new centre-back (Telegraph), with Ange Postecoglou keen to provide cover to prevent another situation like the one he faces right now in light of Micky van de Ven‘s hamstring injury.

However, just as we saw in the summer, Spurs are not against the idea of signing young prospects with one eye on the future. The likes of Alejo Veliz and Ashley Phillips arriving this summer prove that.

Spurs have a plan for Idumbo Muzambo

We also know Spurs are keen to add more creativity to their ranks, so it’s no surprise that one of the hottest young talents in the Netherlands, Stanis Idumbo Muzambo, has been linked with the Lilywhites.

According to a report from DH, the attacking midfielder could be poached in January by Spurs, with a view to integrating him within the first team squad, before assessing his value come the summer. At that point, he would either go out on loan, or fight for a place in the first team.

Idumbo Muzambo’s current contract with Ajax expires next summer, and Tottenham are ready to take advantage of that fact. It seems Spurs are a “concrete avenue” for the youngster to explore, and they have a “project of four years” to offer the player.

Apparently, Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco are also circling, and are also “ready to sign him.”

I really like the fact we are looking at such young talent and really putting together a squad for the future, as well as fixing the present. If we can get Idumbo Muzambo fairly cheap, it would be a sound investment.
