Report claims Spurs wish to pair Kane with Lewandowski up front next season

According to Foot Mercato, Tottenham Hotspur hold a serious interest in snapping up Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich.

Lewandowski has just 12 months left on his contract with Bayern, with 90 min reporting last week that the striker has indicated to the Bundesliga giants he will not be signing a new contract and wants to leave this summer.

The report claimed Barcelona was the Polish international’s preferred destination but added that his agent Pini Zahavi has been speaking to several Premier League clubs, including Spurs, regarding a potential move for his client.

Foot Mercato have now also backed up the claim regarding Lewandowski’s wish to move to Barca, stating that the striker is attracted to the idea of playing in the Camp Nou and living in the Catalonian capital.

It is asserted that the Bayern star would even be ready to accept a less attractive salary to move to Barca.

However, the report explains that the La Liga giants are not the only ones after the striker’s signature, with Paris Saint-Germain, Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea also on his trail.

The report claims that Chelsea are eyeing Lewandowski as a potential replacement for Romelu Lukaku while Tottenham want to partner the 33-year-old with Harry Kane up front.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think Lewandowski will be particularly keen on a move to Tottenham, partly because of Kane’s presence. I expect the Pole to end up in Barcelona this summer.

Despite the Catalan giant’s financial issues, they will likely be able to afford the 33-year-old, given that he has only 12 months left to run on his contract at the Allianz Stadium.
