Report claims striker linked with Spurs could cost £89m

Lille striker Victor Osimhen could end up leaving the club for as much as £89 million this summer, according to the latest reports from France.

Osimhen has netted 18 goals in 38 appearances in all competitions for Lille this season (transfermarkt) is one of the strikers who was reported to be on Tottenham’s radar during the January transfer window (Sky Sports).

However, the North Londoners ended their search for a striker in the winter window empty-handed.

Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are also said to be tracking the 21-year-old (Le10Sport) while Manchester United are also said be interested in his services (Le 10 via Inside Football).

It now looks like the Lilywhites may have even more competition to contend with for the Lille star’s signature as French outlet Le Quotidien du Foot suggest that Tottenham’s North London rivals Arsenal and along with Manchester City are also keen on his services.

The report suggests that Oshimen is likely to be Lille’s most expensive export of all time at around €100 million this summer (£89m).

Spurs Web Opinion

We should have gone after Oshimen aggressively in January and did all we could to get the striker signed. I believe we have likely missed our chance to land him as the reported price puts us out of the running. Additionally, the financial problems clubs are facing owing to the coronavirus shutdown makes any bid-money transfer unlikely this summer.
