Multiple reports in Turkey are now claiming that Alexander Sorloth’s proposed transfer to RB Leipzig is set to be hijacked by an English club, which is thought to be either Tottenham Hotspur or Manchester United.
Jose Mourinho has admitted that he still wants to add another striker to the squad despite the arrival of Gareth Bale (Football.London).
Sorloth is one of the names who was reported to be on the Lilywhites’ radar (Fotospor) but the Norway international looked set to be on his way to Leipzig after the Bundesliga club reportedly agreed on a €20 million fee with Trabzonspor.
However, Turkish publication Sport Buzzer has now revealed that the striker’s medical with Julian Nagelsmann’s side, which was due to take place on Monday, was cancelled at short notice.
Meanwhile, Asist Analiz have shed light on why Sorloth’s move to Germany could have fallen through as they report that Trabzonspor have received an offer from “a very big English club” for the striker.
They claim that the 24-year-old is likely to join either Spurs or Man Utd before the transfer window closes.
Spurs Web Opinion
While it is clear that we are after a striker, it is anybody’s guess at this point who we are likely to go for. There have been plenty of contradictory claims made over the past few weeks about who our primary targets are and it does not look as if we are particularly close to any deal as things stand. I suspect that Daniel Levy is looking to see if he can ship out a couple of fringe players before pushing ahead with moves for our main targets.
