Report claims talks are now advanced for English player to leave Tottenham

Football Insider have claimed that Japhet Tanganga is now in ‘advanced talks’ to join AC Milan.

Reports over recent weeks have indicated that Tottenham are expected to move on both Joe Rodon and Tanganga this summer, and sign another central defender (talkSPORT).

Fabrizio Romano revealed on Friday that Rennes have reached a full agreement with Spurs regarding a loan deal for Rodon, with an option to sign him permanently for €20m (£16.7m).

Football Insider have now backed that up, stating that the Welshman is expected to complete his medical over the weekend before sealing a switch to the Ligue 1 side.

The report adds that Spurs have also given the green light for Tanganga to head out of the door to make room for new arrivals.

It is asserted that the 23-year-old is now ‘close’ to sealing a departure to the San Siro. The Lilywhites are allegedly keen to finalise a deal ‘as quickly as possible’.

Conte is thought to have deemed Tangaga as surplus to requirements as prefers ‘experienced and battle-hardened’ centre-backs.

Spurs Web Opinion

I fully expect Tottenham to bring in a right-sided central defender if both Tanganga and Rodon depart the club. Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic would be a good fit as the Serbian is accustomed to playing on the right side of a back three, and thus could serve as an ideal cover for Cristian Romero.
