Report claims this Spurs player is set for a ‘mini pre-season’ during winter break

The Evening Standard have reported that Ben Davies will now undertake his own mini pre-season during the winter break, while a number of his teammates jet off on holiday.

The Welshman has been out injured for a number of months after having played just one game under Jose Mourinho since the new boss arrived.

Davies is a key ingredient to the identity Mourinho is setting up in North London, as he has the ability to play both left-back and tucked in as a left-sided central defender.

The Welsh fullback also brings some much-needed experience to the back four, with the only other current left-back option at the club being young Ryan Sessegnon. Danny Rose was recently loaned out to Newcastle United for the rest of the season.

The Standard say that Davies returned to training last week after his ankle ligament injury and is now looking to get back up to speed in time for Aston Villa, Spurs’ next match on February 16.
