Report claims Tottenham attacking target may now sign new deal with current club

A report out of A Bola today has claimed that there may be a meeting to discuss a new contract for Bruno Fernandes at Sporting Lisbon this week.

The article states that the attacking midfielder is currently on a salary of €1.5m per year at the Portuguese club, but they will likely offer him €2m after tax if he pens this new deal.

However, A Bola mention a few times that Tottenham offered the playmaker around €3.5m per year when they came in for him in the summer.

Sporting are apparently still interested in selling the player for €70m, but the transfer window is obviously now closed until the new year.

This comes after the Sporting Lisbon club president, Frederico Varandas, came out recently to confirm that Tottenham were the only club to make a serious bid for Fernandes in the summer (Sun).

However, he says the club turned it down as it did not meet the desired valuation.
