Report claims Tottenham player has mysteriously ‘disappeared off the radar’

French publication Foot-Sur7 have looked into Joe Rodon’s struggles to get game time at Rennes over the last two months.

Rennes signed Rodon on a loan deal last summer with an option to buy at €20m (£17.6m) and the deal was seen by many as a coup for the French club, given the promise the centre-back had shown in his limited game time for Tottenham.

While Welshman did impress at times in the first half of the campaign, his opportunities have almost completely dried up since the Ligue 1’s restart.

In fact, Foot-Sur7 point out that Rodon hasn’t featured in the league since February 12th in a 3-1 loss to Toulouse and has not even been in the squad for the past two games against Lyon and Reims.

The publication questions why that is the case in an article which is simply titled ‘Where has Joe Rodon gone?’

The report states that the on-loan Tottenham man has ‘completely disappeared off the radar’ and the reasons for his absence of late are ‘still not known to this day’.

They dismiss suggestions that it could be a physical issue, pointing out that Rodon represented Wales in last month’s international break.

It now looks fairly clear that Rennes are not going to take up the option to sign Rodon.

So, Tottenham will have to find a buyer for the 25-year-old in the summer and the centre-back is only likely to attract interest from Championship clubs rather than Premier League ones.
