Report claims Tottenham will listen to offers for defender this summer

The Telegraph have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur will listen to offers for Joe Rodon this summer.

Rodon has hardly been handed any opportunities since Conte arrived at Spurs but the defender did show his class for Wales during last month’s international break.

Wales boss Robert Page hinted at the time that Antonio Conte contacted him and was complimentary about the centre-back’s performance during the Dragons’ 2-1 win over Austria (Wales Online).

However, the former Swansea man has continued to warm the bench for the past few weeks and looks unlikely to get any game time this season unless there is an injury crisis.

Football.London reported a couple of weeks ago that Rodon is expected to push for a move when the transfer window opens this summer.

The Telegraph have now revealed that the 24-year-old is one of the players Spurs will listen to offers for at the end of the season.

It is explained that cashing in on Rodon would free up a spot on Tottenham’s foreign player list, thus helping the North London club to keep their non-homegrown players within the stipulated number ahead of next season.

Spurs Web Opinion

Rodon appears certain to leave as the centre-back has not had a run of starts under his belt over the course of his two years at the club.

While the 24-year-old has shown glimpses of his talent, Eric Dier’s form this season has meant that Conte could not drop the England international.

I would expect several Premier League clubs to show interest in Rodon this summer and I would not be surprised if he thrives elsewhere.
