Report claims Tottenham’s summer signing may not be at the club next season

According to a report in Spanish publication AS, Gareth Bale wants a happy ending to his Real Madrid career and is open to returning to the La Liga giants next season at the end of his loan spell at Tottenham.

While Bale was always going to take time to get his match sharpness back after completing a fairytale return to Tottenham in the summer, it is fair to say that Spurs fans would have expected a little more from the Welshman than he has been able to produce so far.

The 31-year-old has only made one Premier League start since his return to North London, with most of his game time coming in the Europa League.

AS reveal that Bale is keeping a close eye on the developments at the Santiago Bernabeau as he is open to potentially playing out the last year of his contract at the club.

The report claims that Zinedine Zidane needs to depart the club for the winger to be able to return the Spanish capital at the end of his season-long loan deal at Spurs.

However, it is suggested that Madrid are looking to get Bale’s salary off their wage bill and are hoping Tottenham would extend his loan deal by another season next summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Everything we have heard from Bale, his agent, Mourinho and even Reguilon suggests that the Welshman is happy as he can be after leaving Madrid and coming to Spurs. He has made his intention of wanting to leave Real Madrid clear multiple times in the past. So, I don’t see why he would have had a change of heart in a couple of months. I believe Bale will likely be focused on getting back to his best on the pitch for Spurs and having a positive impact in Wales’ Euros campaign next summer.
