Report claims two managers may be back in running for Spurs job

The Daily Mirror have claimed that Brighton boss Graham Potter and former Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe could be back in the running for the Tottenham job after the club failed to persuade Antonio Conte to take over.

If reports are to be believed, Tottenham are back to square one in their search for a new manager after reaching an agreement with Fabio Paratici.

Despite the fact that Spurs have yet to confirm the appointment of the former Juventus chief football officer, it has been alleged that the 48-year-old has drawn up a new shortlist of candidates to replace the club’s old one.

Tottenham are reportedly ready to accelerate their pursuit of Paratici’s top target but it is unclear at the moment who that is going to be.

The Mirror have now suggested that both Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte are out of Spurs’ reach and that the North London club could be about to revisit some of their previous targets.

Ajax boss Erik ten Hag is mentioned as a potential candidate, along with the English duo, Potter and Howe.

I suspect this is just baseless speculation as if it is true that Paratici will now draw up a new list of candidates, I cannot see either Potter or Howe being at the top of it.

That is not to say that Potter would a bad option to go for as I believe he could implement a system that brings the best out of some of our midfield and attacking talent.

However, after the way Tottenham’s failed pursuit of Conte played out publicly, a low-profile appointment like Potter, will likely not be received well by the fan base.
