Report claims what Mourinho thinks of move for Barcelona player

Philippe Coutinho is not on Jose Mourinho’s transfer wish list this summer, according to a report by Mundo Deportivo.

The Brazilian has been linked with a temporary switch (Football Insider) as well as a permanent transfer (Sport) to Spurs this summer, with Barcelona reportedly keen to get him off their wage bill due to the finacial effects of the pandemic

Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian has admitted that the prospect of a return to the Premier League would appeal to the midfielder (talkSPORT).

However, Mundo Deportivo have now rubbished suggestions that the Barca star could be on his way to Spurs.

The report suggests that the Spurs head coach does not want to sign the former Liverpool playmaker as he does not fit into his system at Tottenham.

This suggestion is consistent with a report from Football Insider which suggests an attacking midfielder is not high on Tottenham’s radar this summer with the North Londoners instead focusing on a striker, defensive midfielder, right back and a centre-back.

Spurs Web Opinion

With Dele Alli, Erik Lamela, Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele (if he stays) all capable of playing the number 10 role in the current 4-2-3-1 that we play, I do not see where Coutinho fits in.

We are fairly strong in the wide areas as well with Steven Bergwijn, Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura. Going by Coutinho’s recent form, I do not see him getting into our side.
