Report claims who at Spurs is driving deal for Bale

There is plenty of excitement among Spurs fans as the news regarding the club’s pursuit of Gareth Bale has been dominating the headlines over the last 24 hours.

The Athletic have now explained how far along the negotiations between Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid are for the Welshman.

Like other outlets, they also reveal that Spurs would have to pay half of Bale’s £600,000-a-week wages to sign him on a season-long loan deal but a permanent transfer is also mooted as a possibility.

However, the report suggests that a swap deal involving Dele Alli was never part of the negations between the two clubs.

It is explained that Tottenham’s pursuit of Bale is being primarily being driven by Daniel Levy, with the Spurs chairman always having a soft spot for the winger and discussions have continued this morning.

Given the experience and the success that the Real Madrid man has under his belt, it is said that key Tottenham players would welcome the move.

The 31-year-old is also thought to be keen to return to his old stomping ground as he is determined to get some games under his belt ahead of the European Championships next summer.

While many outlets are reporting that the Sergio Reguilion deal is all but agreed, that does seem to be the case with the Bale deal. It sounds like Levy still has some work to do to get the deal over the line. It is understandable why Spurs fans are excited but some of the reaction seems a bit premature particularly considering how the Dybala deal collapsed last year.
