Report: Club agrees to pay Spurs extra 5% to cover sell-on clause to sweeten deal

It looks like Christian Eriksen’s transfer to Inter Milan is now imminent as reports indicate that the Dane is set to have his medical with the Italian giants after sealing the transfer (Daily Mail).

The Athletic reported earlier that the Dane had collected his belongings at Hotspur Way yesterday and was due to travel to Italy today. The midfielder has since been spotted arriving at Milan airport to complete the proposed move.

While the 27-year-old has been linked heavily with a move to Inter for the entirety of the month, it looks the deal is finally set to go through in the final few days of the transfer window.

The Daily Mail have revealed that the deal between two clubs was finalised after Inter decided to throw a sweetener in the deal for Spurs by offering an extra 5% in order to cover Ajax’s sell-on clause.

The deal thus agreed between the two sides is said to be worth a total of £17.5 million.

Looking back, it was a grave mistake not letting Eriksen leave last summer. His form has been quite poor so far this campaign and we could have got a higher fee had we agreed to sell him six months earlier. The Dane desperately looks like he needs a fresh start and I believe the Italian league will suit him well.
