Report: Club are actively looking for a replacement for Tottenham-linked star

TEAMtalk claim that Brentford could make a move for Toulouse striker Thijs Dallinga, who they have identified as a replacement for Tottenham target Ivan Toney.

Over the past month, various outlets have reported that Spurs are on the lookout for a centre-forward to replace Harry Kane, with the Lilywhites backed to make a move for Toney when his ban lapses in January (Daily Express).

Two weeks ago, David Ornstein told NBC Sports that while Tottenham are ‘worth watching’ in the race for the 27-year-old’s signature, he suggested that the Bees have not put up the player for sale yet.

The journalist stated that the England international was more likely to leave the Gtech Community Stadium next summer rather than in January.

Ivan Toney is increasingly likely to leave Brentford

However, if TEAMtalk’s latest update is to be believed, Toney is now ‘increasingly likely’ to leave the West London club when the transfer window reopens.

The report backs up what we have already heard from other sources by stating that Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea have expressed their interest in the centre-forward, who has made it clear to the Bees hierarchy that he wants a new challenge.

The publication adds that Thomas Frank’s men have now identified the prolific Dallinga as the man to fill Toney’s shoes.

Spurs Web Opinion

Brentford are likely to demand a humungous fee for Toney in January and I do not see Spurs shattering their transfer record for the 27-year-old. If the Lilywhites do decide to move for a centre-forward mid-season, Santiago Gimenez looks likely to be their top target.
