AS have claimed that Real Betis are continuing to monitor Giovani Lo Celso’s situation at Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the January transfer window.
Lo Celso was heavily linked with a move away from Spurs during the summer transfer window, with Real Betis (Rudy Galetti), Barcelona (Javi Miguel) and Napoli (Il Mattino) thought to have explored late loan moves for the Argentine.
However, he stayed put at the Premier League side, with various outlets stating that Ange Postecoglou reassured the player’s camp that he would have a role at Tottenham this season (Express).
The 27-year-old’s only start so far this season has come in the Carabao Cup second-round tie against Fulham and given the sublime form James Maddison has been in, he does not look likely to get too many minutes.
Real Betis are continuing to monitor Lo Celso
AS have now claimed that Manuel Pellegrini remains interested in bringing the Tottenham man to Benito Villamarin Stadium.
The outlet explains that although Betis signed Isco in the summer, the former Real Madrid man is seen as a replacement for Nabil Fekir, with Pellegrini thought to have sought another midfielder to replace Sergio Canales.
The report asserts that Lo Celso fits that profile, which is why the Spanish side’s eyes are on the Spurs man amidst his struggles to get game time in North London.
Spurs Web Opinion
Unless there is an injury to Maddison, I cannot see Lo Celso getting much of a look in over the next few months, which is why the Argentine is likely to push for a move in January.
With the likes of Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kuluseveski being capable of operating centrally as the advanced number eight, I think Ange would allow Lo Celso to depart without signing a replacement.
