Report: Club are ‘not happy’ with Tottenham after transfer U-turn

The Times journalist Tom Allnutt has revealed that Valencia are not happy with Tottenham after the North London club went back on their word regarding Bryan Gil.

Valencia boos Gennaro Gauttso stated a few days ago that Spurs had informed the La Liga club they would give Gil the green light to fly to Spain to complete a loan move once they managed to secure a replacement (90 min).

Some sources, including Spanish journalist Domingo Ortiz reported earlier today that Antonio Conte’s men blocked the winger’s move to the Mestalla since they have not been able to sign said replacement.

Meanwhile, Hector Gomez suggested a few hours ago that while Gil’s loan move to Valencia is not completely dead, it will be “very difficult” to pull off.

This has now been backed up by Allnutt, who has said that the Spaniard’s loan move is now “very complicated” and Valencia have thus turned their attentions to other targets.

The journalist added that La Liga club had “everything agreed” with Gil weeks ago and that Spurs had told them the player would be allowed to leave. Los Che are said to be unhappy with Tottenham for going back on their word.

I suspect Tottenham were looking for a loan signing to replace Gil rather than a permanent one as they see the 21-year-old having a future in North London.

Signing a player like Dan James permanently would not have made sense as it could have been a struggle to get him off the wage bill a year or two later.
