Report: Club are ‘very far’ from tying down alleged Spurs target to new deal

Tuttosport have revealed that Inter Milan still have quite a bit of work to do to tie down Tottenham target, Alessandro Bastoni, to a new contract, with the two parties still quite a distance away from an agreement.

Just a few days ago, Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta, poured cold water over Tottenham’s hopes of snapping up Bastoni by insisting that he is confident the centre-back will put pen to paper on a new deal (Fabrizio Romano).

However, if TuttoSport’s latest update is to be believed, Bastoni’s future is far from settled, amidst interest from both Spurs and Manchester City.

The publication reveals that the 23-year-old has always wanted to remain at Inter, pointing out that he even turned down offers from the Premier League last summer.

It is explained, however, that if the Nerazzurri are not able to offer him a contract that is demonstrative of his value to the team, he could say ‘goodbye’ to the club this summer.

The publication asserts the Serie A club’s proposals have so far not come close to what Bastoni is hoping for, with the Italy international wanting a salary of €5m (£4.3m) plus bonuses to sign on the dotted line.

Even if Bastoni does not agree on a new deal with Inter, he will likely have a whole host of offers to choose from this summer, which is why I am not optimistic about our chances of snapping him up.

The one trump card we had in this regard was Conte, given the pair’s relationship but we longer have that either.
