Report: Club believe they would have to hand Harry Kane £500,000-per-week salary

The Times have revealed that Manchester United believe that they would have to hand Harry Kane a salary of more than £500,000 per week, which is why they are hesitant to move for the Tottenham striker.

A couple of days ago, Fabrizio Romano revealed on his YouTube channel that despite suggestions to the contrary, Man Utd are not expected to restart talks with Tottenham regarding Kane.

The journalist explained that even though Erik Ten Hag views the England captain as the ideal profile for his system, the Red Devils believe that Spurs would not sell the player to them.

Romano further added that the total financial package it would take to sign Kane would be excessive, which is why United are set to move for Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund instead.

Wages the sticking point for Man United

The Times have now also reported that United’s interest in Kane has cooled as the club would have to shatter their wage structure to sign the Spurs star.

It is revealed that with Marcus Rashford recently signing a new contract worth about £325,000 per week, the Manchester club believe that they would need to pay the Tottenham man more than £500,000 a week, which they fear would destabilise the dressing room.

However, the publication adds that sources close to Kane insist they have not spoken to United about wages.

Spurs Web Opinion

This is quite a bizarre report as Kane is certainly not the sort of player who would make excessive salary demands.

In fact, if he does end up moving to Bayern, his salary at the club is not likely to be anywhere close to £500,000 per week.
