A Bola have revealed that Sporting Lisbon remain ‘calm’ about Pedro Gonçalves’ future despite Tottenham’s interest in the attacker.

Goncalves has been one of the standout players in the Portuguese top flight this season, with the winger having notched up 19 goals and 12 assists in 45 appearances so far (Transfermarkt).

The 24-year-old’s displays have seemingly caught Tottenham’s attention, with multiple outlets over the last few weeks suggesting that the North London club are eyeing a summer move for the player.

The latest such update came from Record (23/4/23), who claimed that Spurs were primed to beat Aston Villa to the Sporting star’s signature this summer.

A Bola have now reported on Tottenham’s pursuit of Goncalves, stating that the Lilwhites’ interest in the winger is ‘real’.

The report adds that Spurs’ wish to sign the versatile attacker has only grown in light of his impressive performances against Arsenal in the Europa League.

However, it is asserted that Sporting are ‘calm’ about the possibility of losing Goncalves since he is protected by an €80m (£70.7m) release clause.

Spurs Web Opinion

I cannot see Spurs or any other club across Europe meeting Goncalves’ release clause.

While there is no doubt about the 24-year-old’s talent, he remains unproven outside of Portugal, which is why £50m-£55m is the most clubs would likely be willing to offer for his services this summer.
