Report: Club confident they can land summer Spurs signing

According to a report by Football Insider, QPR are confident they can win the race for Tottenham youngster Jack Clarke in January and beat out the considerable competition for his signature.

Clarke who moved to Spurs in the summer was loaned back to Leeds United for the season but was recalled after barely seeing any game time in the first half of the season.

Jose Mourinho recently confirmed that Spurs were looking to loan him out to another club where he is guaranteed game time in the second half of the campaign (Football.London).

Football Insider reports that there is quite a queue for the 19-year-old signature with the likes of Middlesbrough, Fulham, Derby, Milwall, Swansea City and Nottingham Forest, all said to be interested.

However, it is alleged that QPR hope to take advantage of manager Mark Warburton’s strong connections with Tottenham to lure Clarke.

The 57-year-old has been successful in signing a number of young players from Tottenham in recent years on loan, including the current deal for Luke Amos and it is suggested the Hoops hope they can use that to their advantage to land Clarke.

QPR are not at the same level as some of the other teams mentioned here who are competing for promotion to the Premier League. However, the most important thing for Clarke right now is to get game time and if he has a better chance of doing that at QPR, then that is where he should go.
