‘Imminent’ – Fabrizio Romano reveals Spurs defender is on the verge of exit

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Sergio Reguilon’s move to Atletico Madrid is now imminent, with Renan Lodi on the verge of a move to Nottingham Forest.

Earlier this week, Gianluca Di Marzio reported that despite interest from Lazio, Reguilon is not in a hurry to leave Tottenham and is willing to wait until January to find the right move.

This information was backed up by AS, who claimed those close to the Spaniard expect him to be at Spurs beyond the end of the transfer window.

However, on Thursday, TuttoMercatoWeb reported that Atletico Madrid had entered the race for Reguilon’s signature and had emerged as the front-runners ahead of both Lazio and Fulham.

The report claimed that the La Liga club had already opened talks with the Tottenham man’s representatives over a return to Spain.

Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that Reguilon’s loan move to Metropolitano Stadium will be a straight loan with no option to make the deal permanent.

I am surprised there has not been more interest from Spain for Reguilon, especially given the impressive campaign he had in 2019/20 on loan at Sevilla.

Perhaps, his wage demands put off clubs from pursuing the 25-year-old. Despite Reguilon’s Real Madrid connections, he now has the opportunity to return to his home city and look to push for a place in Spain’s World Cup squad.
