Report: Club convinced they will sign Spurs player this summer

According to The Evening Standard, Manchester City remain confident they will get a deal for Harry Kane over the line before the transfer window shuts despite Tottenham’s rigid stance on the striker.

Kane denied accusations that he refused to train last week, insisting he was always scheduled to return to Hotspur Way on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola admitted last week that City are interested in the England captain but insisted there is nothing the club can do if Tottenham do not want to negotiate.

Kane is currently self-isolating in The Lodge at Hotspur Way and is expected to be integrated into group training on Thursday.

Nuno Espirito Santo has said the striker is available for selection for Tottenham’s season opener against City on Sunday.

The Standard have now revealed that even if a deal for Kane cannot be struck before the start of the season, the Premier League champions are convinced they will be able to sign the England captain before the end of the month.

The report asserts that Guardiola’s men are refusing to enter into negotiations for Lionel Messi as they remain focused on striking a deal for Kane.

Despite receiving little encouragement from Spurs, City allegedly believe they will get their man.

The fact that City have not moved for the likes of Messi or Haaland certainly indicates that they believe they can get Kane. I would not be surprised if the deal goes through once Tottenham get their replacements in over the next couple of weeks.
