Report: Club could consider selling Spurs-linked player who is avoiding contract talks

Wolverhampton Wanderers will weigh up the idea of selling Adama Traore in January should the winger not sign a contract extension with the club, according to the Daily Mail.

Following the closure of the summer transfer window, the Molineux outfit keen to iron out his future, however, the player has been avoiding talks.

The 25-year-old is out of contract at the end of next season with Wolves unwilling to allow him to run down his contact.

The 25-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur during the summer, only for a reunion with Nuno Espirito Santo to fail to materialise.

The Atheltic reported that Tottenham tabled a bid of £30m before the window closed, bur failed to return with an improved offer after it was rejected by Wolves with the Black Country outfit holding out for £50m.

Traore is still the unfinished article, his dribbling and pace terrorised Tottenham last month but as we saw when he was through on goal against Hugo Lloris, he squandered an opportunity you would expect a £50m-rated player to score.

Spurs were right to bide their time with an offer, with it likely they’ll be able to get a substantial reduction in January if his contract saga drags on.
