Report: Club could seriously consider paying £25m for Spurs player

Calciomercato have claimed that Napoli could do a U-turn on Tanguy Ndombele and decide to activate the option to buy the midfielder permanently from Tottenham Hotspur.

Ndombele completed a loan move to Napoli towards the end of the summer transfer window, with The Times reporting that the Serie A club have the option to buy him permanently for £25m.

The Frenchman did not have the best of starts to his loan spell in Naples, struggling for game time during the first couple of months of the season.

However, Ndombele has shown some promising signs over recent weeks and is now getting starts under his belt owing to the Serie A club’s injury owes.

CalcioMercato now reveal that the on-loan Tottenham man is winning Luciano Spalletti over with his recent displays. The report states that Ndombele is now ‘carving out his own space’ at Napoli following a difficult start to the season.

It is explained that the Serie A club initially did not plan on activating the option to buy the former Lyon man permanently, since they found the £25m fee to be ‘prohibitive’.

However, CalcioMercato assert that should Ndombele maintain his current level of performance, the club would seriously consider buying the player.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is clear that Ndombele is not in Conte’s plans, given the specific characteristics that the Italian looks for in his midfielders. So, it would be in Tottenham’s best interest for the Frenchman to do well in Naples and for the Serie A club to activate the option to sign him permanently.
