Report: Club demanding in the region of £22m for 23-goal striker linked with Spurs

Gent will tell any interested parties in rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Jonathan David, that they will have to pay €25million (£22.4million) if they wish to land the striker this summer.

David has had an exceptional season in Belgium, managing 23 goals and 10 assists in 40 appearances across all competitions (transfermarkt.com).

His form has seemingly attracted the interest of clubs across Europe including Tottenham who reportedly sent scouts to Belgium to watch the Canadian international earlier this season (Het Laatste Nieuws).

The 20-year-old is also said to also be on the radar of the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool (Walfoot).

David has already gone public with his intention to leave Genk and play at a higher level next season (Sky Sports).

Estadio Deportivo reported last month that the striker’s price tag could be slashed to just £13.5million due to the financial impact of COVID-19.

However, CalcioMercato have now revealed that any club looking to sign the prolific forward will have to pay around £22million to secure his services.

Spurs Web Opinion

While the 20-year-old has been prolific in front of goal this season, there are question marks over whether he is ready for the step up to the Premier League. I would be extremely surprised if a top-six side decides to take a punt on him in the summer. I expect him to join a midtable PL side or a Bundesliga or La Liga side this summer, before making the step up to an elite club in a season or two.
