According to a report from L’Equipe, selling Houssem Aouar and Joachim Andersen, two players who are rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar, is considered a priority for Lyon this summer.
Aouar is rumoured to be of interest to Tottenham, as well as their North London rivals, Arsenal in the current transfer window.
Some reports have even claimed that Spurs are willing to allow Lyon to re-sign Tanguy Ndombele as part of a deal to bring Aouar to the club, but this assertion has been disputed by other sources.
Meanwhile, Andersen is one of a whole host of central defenders to be linked with a move to Spurs over the past couple of months.
Reports from Denmark stated last month that Spurs are in the driving seat ahead of other clubs to secure the defender’s signature but the speculation linking the North London club with a move to 25-year-old has cooled over recent weeks.
L’Equipe have now revealed that Lyon have posted estimated losses of €185m due to the financial impact of the pandemic and their failure to qualify for the Champions League.
The Ligue 1 club are thus said to be desperate to cash in on some of their assets, with the sales of Aourar and Andersen, as well as midfielder Thiago Mendes, seen as a priority.
However, the report asserts that Lyon are yet to receive concrete offers for any of the three players.
Spurs Web Opinion
I suspect our interest in both Aouar and Andersen is opportunistic due to Lyon’s situation. I do not think either player is at the top of Fabio Paratici’s wishlist and I only expect Spurs to move for one of them (or both) if other deals do not materialise.
