Report: Club director has made Tottenham outcast a ‘desired’ target this summer

Sevilla director Monchi has made Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon a ‘desired’ transfer target as he believes the Spaniard would be a major addition to the club’s squad, according to Marca (29/07/22 via Sport Witness).

The report claims the La Liga side view Reguilon as a main starter at left-back for manager Julen Lopetegui and are confident of completing a loan deal this summer, in spite of his hefty wage earnings.

The 25-year-old previously spent a successful season on loan at Sevilla from Real Madrid in 2019-20 before Spurs opted to sign him permanently from Los Blancos two years ago.

However, Reguilon has endured a difficult stint in North London and recently slipped down the ranks with new arrival Ivan Perisic, Ryan Sessegnon and Matt Doherty all currently ahead of him in the pecking order at left-wing-back.

He was alongside Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Harry Winks in being left out of Antonio Conte’s squad which embarked on a pre-season tour of South Korea.

Sevilla are very interested in taking Reguilon this summer and it is no surprise given so many people at the club will be familiar with him following his loan spell with them.

The issue does seem to be the finances which could slow a deal down and hopefully there will eventually be some sort of compromise that will allow them and Spurs to reach an agreement.
