Report: Club do not wish to sell 22-year-old winger wanted by Spurs

Sampdoria are keen to hold on to rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Mikkel Damsgaard for one more season, according to a report in ClubDoria46.

Damsgaard’s reputation has blossomed since the youngster arrived in Serie A in January of last year. The 20-year-old has established himself as a key player in Claudio Ranieri’s side this season, scoring two goals and providing four assists so far.

It was reported last month that Tottenham and Juventus were both ‘crazy’ about the tricky wide man and have already enquired about his availability.

However, it has been suggested that Spurs could face plenty of competition for the Dane as several teams from the Premier League are following his progress.

ClubDoria46 now reveal that Damsgaard’s value has tripled since he arrived at Sampdoria, with the midfielder now valued by the club at around €20m (£17.1m).

The report asserts that the Serie A club wish to hold on to the youngster until the summer of 2022 rather than cashing in him at the end of the season. However, Damsgaard is said to harbour ambitions of playing in the Premier League.

Spurs could potentially try to use Hojberg, who is of course Damsgaard’s international teammate, to put in a word to the youngster if they are interested. That might give them an advantage over the other clubs vying for the 20-year-old’s signature.
