Report: Club expect to earn £13m if Tottenham sign their player this summer

Sport have revealed that even though the recent crisis at Tottenham has delayed the negotiations between Barcelona and the North London club regarding Clement Lenglet, the Catalan giants expect the Frenchman to leave this summer.

Lenglet is on a season-long loan deal at Tottenham but the Lilywhites do not have the option to make the deal permanent, which means that they would have to negotiate with Barca if they want to sign the centre-back.

Journalist Gerard Romero said on his Twitch channel on May 3 that while the negotiations between the two clubs were at an advanced stage previously, they have since come to a halt and the status of the deal is now unclear.

Sport have now reported something quite similar, saying that the ‘crisis’ at Tottenham is ‘delaying’ Lenglet’s move.

The publication explains that the Catalan giants are keen to cash in on the 27-year-old, with Spurs said to be ‘satisfied’ with the player’s performances and thought to view his signing as a ‘priority’.

It is asserted that Barca expect to make around €15m (£13m) from the former Sevilla man’s sale this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think Tottenham will make a decision on Lenglet until they have a new head coach in place.

The club’s ultimate decision might depend on whether the next manager prefers playing with a back three or a back four as the Frenchman would not be a good fit for the latter.
