Report: Club expect Tottenham to make a higher bid today for defender

The Sun journalist Tom Barclay has revealed that Middlesbrough expect Tottenham Hotspur to make a higher offer for Djed Spence today after weeks of negotiations.

Spurs officially confirmed the capture of Richarlison from Everton today, with the Brazilian becoming the club’s fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma.

Spence could be the next one to follow, with Sky Sports Lyall Thomas revealing on Thursday that Tottenham and Middlesbrough are in ‘advanced talks’ and that the clubs are ‘getting closer’ to an agreement for the right-back.

Barclay has taken to social media to state that a deal for Spence has not yet been agreed on between the clubs. The journalist explained that Chris Wilder’s men expect the Lilywhites to present a ‘higher offer’ for the player today.

I expect both the Spence and the Lenglet deals to be agreed within the next few days so that both players can report for the start of pre-season. Spence has all the raw materials to be a top wing-back and I am excited to see how he will develop under Conte.
