Report: Club finding it ‘difficult’ to tie Spurs-linked star down to new contract

According to Sport1, Bayern Munich are facing problems in their contract negotiations with rumoured Tottenham target Serge Gnabry.

Although Gnabry has not been a regular fixture in Bayern’s starting eleven under Julian Nagelsmann this season, he has still notched up 12 goals and nine assists across all competitions so far (Transfermarkt).

Bild reported last week that Spurs were exploring the possibility of snapping up the former Arsenal man whose contract at the Allianz Arena runs out in 2023.

Sport1 have now shed more light on Gnabry’s situation, explaining that Bayern are finding the contract negotiations with the player’s entourage to be ‘difficult’.

Despite the Bundesliga club being in contract with the winger’s agent for several months, it is said that the two parties are far from close to an agreement.

Although Gnabry is alleged to be happy in Munich, he is thought to be demanding a salary of around €15m (£12.5m) per year to sign on the dotted line.

The report adds that several clubs including Real Madrid are ‘closely following’ the 26-year-old’s situation.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no doubt that Gnabry is a brilliant player, who would immediately strengthen our starting eleven.

However, given the start Kulusevski has had at Spurs, perhaps Conte would be looking to prioritise additions in other areas of the pitch like midfield, centre-back and right-back in the summer.

Besides, if Gnabry does not sign a new contract with Bayern, one would expect plenty of clubs from around Europe to show interest in the German international.
