Report: Club have already started working on deal to sign player from Spurs

Area Napoli have revealed that Napoli have already started working on a deal to extend Tanguy Ndombele’s stay at the club.

Although Ndombele has not managed to establish himself as a regular starter for Napoli this season, he has been quite effective as an impact substitute off the bench for the Serie A table toppers.

CalcioNapoli24 reported earlier this week that the plan is for the midfielder to return to Spurs at the end of the season before the Italian club begin talks with the Premier League side about the player.

The report added that the 26-year-old would like to get more minutes and will thus sit down with both Tottenham and Napoli to decide his future.

However, Area Napoli have now suggested that Ndombele has ‘shown a willingness’ to remain at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium beyond the end of the season.

The outlet adds that the €28m (£24.7m) option to buy is considered too high by Luciano Spalletti’s men, which is why they are planning to negotiate a discount with Spurs.

In fact, it is asserted that Napoli have already begun work on trying to extend Ndombele’s loan spell at the club for one more season along with an option to buy for €20m (£17.7m) in 2024.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think Tottenham would be particularly keen on extending Ndombele’s loan spell at Naples.

The North London club will be keen to hammer out a sale in the summer even if it means that the 26-year-old leaves for a discounted price.
