Report: Club have contacted Spurs about signing full-back this summer

Fanatik claim that Besiktas have made an approach to sign Ivan Perisic ahead of the summer transfer window.

One of the first tasks that awaits Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham is to move on some of the deadwood, with The Telegraph reporting on Tuesday that the Australian is expected to oversee a mass clear-out this summer as he looks to reshape the club’s bloated squad.

The publication named Perisic, who has struggled to have the expected impact since arriving at Spurs last summer on a free transfer, as one of the players who is surplus to requirements at the North London club.

Fanatik have now claimed that the Croat is on Besiktas’ radar, with the Turkish giants already alleged to have ‘made a request’ in order to get information about the ‘cost of the operation’.

The report adds that the Istanbul club have also reached out to Perisic’s entourage to discuss a summer move.

The outlet states that while Besiktas would not be able to afford the 34-year-old’s current salary of €9m (£7.7m), they are open to sitting at the table to negotiate a contract that would satisfy the player.

Perisic is nailed on to leave Tottenham because, not only is he now 34 years old with just one year left on his contract, but he will simply not fit into Postecoglou’s desired formation.

The Croat cannot play in a back four and I would not be surprised if he seals a return to Inter Milan this summer.
